Itanagar, Sep 30: Along with the rest of the country the month-long Poshan Maah 2020 celebration which commenced from September 1 last concluded on Wednesday in Arunachal Pradesh.
In the capital, the month-long event which was observed by the Urban ICDS Project concluded at the office of the CDPO through a valedictory function wherein the field staff and Anganwadi workers who worked tirelessly during the month were felicitated.
Joint Director WCD, Ponung Ering Angu was the Chief Guest and State Nodal Officer (Poshan Abhiyan) Dorjee Khandu Thoungon was the Guest of Honour. CDPO J. Taba highlighted the activities conducted during Poshan Maah viz., home visits, identification of Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children, weight management, online recipe, essay competitions and training, distribution of vegetable seeds and fruit saplings to Anganwadi workers to promote the Nutri-Garden scheme, sharing of videos on services provided by the Department of Women & Child Development etc. The best performing cluster of Anganwadi centres and winners of online recipe competitions were felicitated.
The WCD Joint Director while lauding the officials of the project for ranking top in dashboard uploading, urged the AWWs/AWHs to continue their duties sincerely. In East Siang, the month-long nutrition campaign conducted by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project, Pasighat concluded on a positive note at the Engo Takar Hall in the township.
To mark the closing ceremony, a district level recipe competition was organized by the Deputy Director (ICDS) which was formally inaugurated by the local MLA Kaling Moyong in presence of Director (W&CD) TP Loyi. Lauding the proactive efforts of the ICDS DD Machi Gao and her team for making the activities a mass movement in the district, Moyong highlighted the importance of nutritious food for children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women and appealed all to maintain the Covid SOPs.
Director WCD, TP Loyi and ICDS DD spoke on the occasion. Cash prizes to the achievers and certificates to the participants were given away by the MLA, WCD Director and other dignitaries present.
In West Siang district, the closing event was conducted at the office of the Deputy Director, Department of Women & Child Development in Aalo.
DD, WCD Chadan Tangjang appreciated the frontline workers and field officials of the district for their efforts in reaching out to the targeted beneficiaries despite the difficulties due to COVID-19 pandemic. CDPO Aalo East Horda Jini briefed the activities carried out during the month-long celebration and CDPO Aalo West Bahi Koyu spoke on the role of Anganwadi workers in identifying malnutrition through growth monitoring of children.
To encourage Nutri-Garden (Poshan Vartika) in Anganwadi centres, DD distributed vegetable seeds to the Anganwadi workers and new LPG connections were also handed over to 23 such workers as a part of the department’s innovative approach to make the Poshan Abhiyan scheme more successful. She also distributed certificates and prizes to the winners of drawing and recipe competitions organized among adolescent girls.
In Tawang district, Poshan Maah under Tawang township and Kyidphel project culminated with a mini tribal food mela at the office of the CDPO Tawang wherein the corona warriors were invited and served a Poshan meal.
During the month-long programme which started from CDPO office, Anganwadi workers and mothers were sensitized on Poshan Abhiyaan and various women welfare schemes launched by the government. The supervisors of both Tawang and Kyidphel projects visited various Anganwadi centres and sensitized the ICDs beneficiaries on the importance of good nutrition. Block level meetings were also conducted at CO Office and Secondary School Kyidphel in this regard.
As a part of the concluding programme the Anganwadi workers were felicitated by ADC Tawang Lobsang Tsering and other officers present.
The concluding-cum-valedictory ceremony of Poshan Maah 2020 in Tirap district was organised by ICDS Project Khonsa at the NBF Hall in the township.
All the activities carried out during the month were reviewed in presence of DMO, DRCHO, DD (ICDS), CDPO Khonsa and other officials of the department . On the occasion, LPG gas cylinders were also distributed by DMO Dr. Koblem Mossang to the AWWs. CDPO Nyamnop Matey detailed the activities carried in villages and urban areas in the district.
