TEZU, Aug 3: The rally for recruitment of 600 porters in the Indian Army was conducted here in Lohit district on August 2-3.
“Many inaccessible areas in Arunachal don’t have motorable roads and for carrying essentials items and building temporary structures for the Army, we have to rely on porters. Candidates from the three districts of Lohit, Namsai and Anjaw have enthusiastically participated to recruit themselves in the rallies held at Hayuliang, Namsai and Tezu respectively,” one of the recruiting Army officials informed.
“We are desperately in search of jobs and the pandemic and lockdowns have made matters worse. We are hopeful this rally will give us some means to sustain our families,” one of the participants at the rally at Tezu airport exuded hope.
Over 300 in the age group of 18- 40 enthusiastically participated in the rallies.
