LONGDING, Jun 24:
Longding district which has been facing poor power for long has embarked on a new beginning with the charging of 33KV line from Khonsa.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta informed that the 33KV line from Khonsa to Longding has been successful due to the untiring effort of Electrical Department especially Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer Longding.
It has been a great achievement for Longding as now private industries, other Government of India institutions can easily function here because quality of electricity has improved considerably, the DC said.
The credit for the feat has been also due to funding under SIDF by Education Minister Honchun Ngandam and Parliamentary Secretary Power Thanwang Wangham.
Longding has been getting electricity from Assam via Kanubari but due to poor 11 KV line and dependency on Assam, the voltage received in Longding was 120/130 Volts while remote circles like Pongchau and Wakka were getting less than 100 Volts.
