Khonsa, Nov 20: An all-party coordination meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Tirap, Taro Mize was held here at the Kamlesh Joshi Conference Hall of DC’s office today with the aim of reaching a consensus to make the upcoming Panchayat elections free and fair in the district.
The DC while appealing the representatives of political parties to make the elections smooth and peaceful, appealed them to inform their candidates for both GPMs/ ZPMs to abide by the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Superintendent of Police, Kardak Riba clarified doubts on PR electoral roll raised by the representatives. DPDO-cum-ADC Hq Kretkam Tikhak imparted training on MCC and RO-cum-EAC Hakresha Kri gave the related details to be observed by the parties and their candidates.
He appealed all stakeholders to keep the elections free from the issues of religion, caste or community and refrain from using religious symbols while seeking votes from the electorate.
RO D.K. Thungdok appealed all to maintain Covid-19 SOPs during the entire election process, particularly the specific preventive measures to be taken by the political parties/candidates during election meetings, rallies, press briefings etc..
