ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The state health department today launched the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) across Arunachal Pradesh which aims to cover children aged 0-5 years with the polio vaccine.
The district level IPPI of Itanagar Capital Complex was launched today at a polio booth near the National Health Mission, Naharlagun by Director Health Services Dr. Moromor Lego, in presence of Director Family Welfare, Dr. Emi Rumi, District Medical Officer ICC, Dr. Mandip Perme, among others.
Dr. Lego urged all the parents of the targeted age group (0 to 5 years) to come forward and to encourage others too to bring their children to the nearest polio booth for “two drops of polio vaccine which can protect the family from polio risk.”
The vaccination team is expecting large participation from all sections of society with 100 percent polio vaccination coverage. The district launching of National Immunization Day was launched successfully by the District Health Society in collaboration with the State health Society.
Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) was conducted in various blocks of Papum-Pare district today. It was held in 175 session sites stretched across the entire district with a targeted beneficiary of 5032. During the daylong activity children below 5 years are given two drops of oral Polio vaccine. Earlier this morning, the programme was launched by Chukhu Bablu, ZPC Papum-Pare district at Community Health Centre Doimukh in presence of DMO.

At Khonsa, Deputy Commissioner Tirap launched the pulse polio vaccination drive at General hospital Khonsa.
While administering IPPI vaccines, DC Taro Mize expressed happiness and praised the preparation made by the health department and sought cooperation from all the denizens of Tirap to immunise their children, which will protect them from paralysis due to poliomyelitis.
At Jemeithang, 92.3% children up to the age of five years were given pulse polio drops at polio booths on the first day.
Covid-19 vaccination was also carried out at Jemeithang, which is the last cold chain point in Tawang with 24 beneficiaries receiving the jabs. With this, the Health Department Tawang has conducted vaccination sessions all over the cold chain points in the district and a total of 616 beneficiaries have been vaccinated.
