AALO, Feb 22: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the West Siang District Police busted two significant drug cases in Aalo, arresting two accused — including a police personnel — and seizing suspected heroin, ganja, cash, and mobile phones.
Under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police Kardak Riba, the Anti-Drug Squad acted swiftly on credible intelligence, leading to the registration of two separate cases at Aalo Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
In the first operation, police arrested Henge Bagra after conducting a house search in the presence of Executive Magistrate-cum-AC (Judicial) Aalo and independent witnesses, following due procedure under Section 50 of the NDPS Act.
A total of approximately 12.26 grams of suspected heroin concealed in 10 tobacco containers was recovered. Police also seized a mobile phone with two SIM cards and other materials. The entire search operation was videographed, and the accused was arrested. The case is being investigated by L/Insp Maloty Tayeng.
In the second case, acting on specific information about drug peddling involving a police personnel, a team led by DySP (HQ) Taba Biroy apprehended Ronal Leya (HC-SG in APP) in Upper Colony, Aalo.
Searches conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate led to the recovery of approximately 5.48 grams of suspected heroin from his possession, vehicle, and residence, along with 6.44 grams of suspected ganja.
