ITANAGAR, Jul 14:After rigorous search, the capital police on Friday arrested two persons, who had allegedly fired at two, fatally injuring one following a minor scuffle on Thursday last at Naharlagun. 

The two arrested have been identified as Rima Tallang, 26 and Agam LangHi, 20 both hailing from Seppa, East Kameng district. 

During the shooting that took place in the wee hours on Thursday morning near Hotel Tosum, one of the victims identified as Yowa Karde, a resident of Model Village sustained bullet injuries to the abdomen and is currently receiving treatment at Tomo Riba Hospital, Naharlagun, while his friend Nikh Vicky, son of MLA, Nikh Kamin escaped unhurt. 

Interacting with reporters at Police Station Naharlagun, Superintendent of Police, A Koan informed that after receiving the information and acting on FIR lodged by the injured person, a major manhunt was launched to nab the miscreants. 

“During the preliminary investigation, after seeing the Bullets, which is fired from a Glock Pistol, we found out that the gun resembled the one which was used by security guard as their service weapon. And the license of such type of gun is rarely issued to the public,” disclosed the SP. 

“Then I asked the investigating team to check all the records of police stations and came across a report at PTC Banderdewa about a stolen weapon of a similar make and model. Accordingly after gathering sufficient evidence from various sources and examining all records of security personnel, we found one man suspicious, who was working as a sentry in the Arms store at PTC, Banderdawa,” the SP added. 

Subsequently a team led by SI SS jha, SI G Basar and SI T Tali under supervision of OC Naharlagun inspector Nikom Riba conducted raid at the residence of the prime suspect, Rima Tallang at Papunallah and recovered the missing weapon along with a 12 bore rifle, 100 round of 9mm bullets, 3 number of 7.65 bullet, 12 bore cartridge, one knife and holster, 12 bore holsters, barrel cleaner, etc from his possession, the SP disclosed. 

During interrogation at the spot, the other accomplice, Agam Langhi was also arrested from Papunallah. 

A case vides no 99/17 U/S 341/323/307/341IPC R/W section of Arms Act was registered at Police Station Naharlagun.
