ITANAGAR, Nov 9: Continuing its effort to curb drug peddling activities in the Itanagar Capital Region in particular and state in general, the capital police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police - Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) arrested two drug peddlers with suspected Brown Sugar and also seized cannabis in a separate operation.
Speaking to reporters, SP-ICR,  Jimmy Chiram informed that acting on a tip-off, a team of police led by SDPO-Itanagar, Kamdam Sikom nabbed the two peddlers, one Raju Tamang(28) and Majub Rangyang(27) from Bank Tinali on November 8 last.  At least 50 plastic vials containing suspected brown sugar of 68 grams was seized from  both persons.
 During the interrogation, they revealed that they kept Brown sugar in their vehicle ( Mini truck) at Mowb-II near Shiv Temple. Accordingly, the party left for the spot and seized the stash.
In the meantime, Special Magistrate Narcotics cum state Nodal officer, Oli Koyu was called to the spot. All the legal formalities are done in presence of the Magistrate. Both alleged accused were brought to the police station and medical examination was done and they were found to be fit to be kept in Lock-up. A case has been registered vide Itanagar PS case no 251/10 u/s 21(b) NDPS act, added SP Jimmy Chiram.
SP  further added, the police hope peddlers will get the message that it won’t be easy for them to bring drugs into the Capital, and that they will eventually be caught and arrested. He added that such operations will continue in the future. 
Speaking about the fight against drug trade in the capital, SDPO Kamdam Sikom informed that Capital police in an operation also seized five kilos of cannabis from different locations of the  capital region  on November 7.
