NAHARLAGUN, Jul 17: Naharlagun Police led by Superintendent of Police, Itanagar Capital Region, Jimmy Chiram today conducted a foot march with police team to create awareness on COVID-19 protocols in Naharlagun.
Speaking to the media, Chiram informed that in view of the rising cases of COVID -19, today police team decided to conduct a foot march to create awareness on the COVID-19 SOPs. Though it is our regular process but today we decided to create awareness rather than use enforcement, he added.
The SP also informed that, besides regular patrolling and mask checking, police team with the support of health officials and district magistrate are also visiting various micro containment zones to help in maintaining proper containment.
He further informed that a similar march was conducted in Itanagar and will also be held in Nirjuli and Banderdewa.
Chiram also appealed to the public to follow the SOPs not only to avoid penalty or punishment but for the safety of oneself and their family members.
"COVID cases in the capital region are rising and we all have to develop the discipline to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour to contain this virus," he added.
