ITANAGAR, Sep 19: Capital police arrested five people in connection with the question paper leakage case of AE (Civil)  Mains examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
The arrestees have been identified as Thomas Gaduk (26), Akhilesh Yadav (26), Tanyang Gaduk (57), Tama Saroh (53) and Taket Jerang (53).
Addressing the media, Superintendent of police ICR- Jimmy  Chiram(IPS) informed that  Thomas Gaduk was one of the candidates for the examination while Akhilesh Yadav served as a teacher at Jeju coaching institute and was arrested on September 11. Likewise, Tanyang Gaduk, who is the father of Thomas, was later arrested along with Tama Saroh, who served as the middleman in the paper leakage case on September 16. After detailed interrogation and disclosure, Taket Jerang was arrested who was posted as Deputy Secretary and Deputy Controller of Examination on the same day.    
“As per the initial investigation, Tanyang Gaduk had approached Tama Saroh to find a link to obtain the question paper for the examination for his son in the year 2021. Accordingly, Tama charmed Taket Jerang with money,” he said, adding that the question papers of Prelims and Mains examination was later procured illegally and provided to Thomas before the examination.
During the investigation it was also found that the sealed question paper was copied by Taket Jerang. It was later delivered to Thomas through Saroh.
“Thomas, who consulted Akhilesh for the solutions to the questions further revealed the questions to Gyamar Padang. Padang is the one who has filed a written complaint on the leakage of question paper in the police station on August 29,” he said.
He said on receipt of the complaint by Padang, a preliminary enquiry was conducted and a report was submitted on September 10 at his office. Subsequently, the case was registered.
“Tama Saroh was paid Rs. 43 lakhs in cash by Tanyang Gaduk for the work, of which, he gave Rs. 15 lakhs to Taket Jerang and kept the rest with him. The money was paid in the year 2021. The money received by Tama Saroh and Taket Jerang has been converted into property,” he said.
Police have seized one Hyundai i20, one Mahindra Scorpio, Invoice voucher and cash memos used in procurement of hardware items and other materials related to the case. Further, search and seizure is expected.
“Concerned over the future of the engineering graduates, police have constituted SIT under ASP Thutan Jamba, SDPO Kamdam Sikom and others. Capital Police expects to complete the ongoing investigation properly and on an urgent basis,” he added.
He said the case under ITA/PS Case no. 229/2022 U/s 120-B/420/406/407/409 IPC was registered on September 10, following the preliminary enquiry to the complaint. And according to the sections, accused may serve 10 years of imprisonment under section 409 while rest sections include less legal punishments.
