From 2021 APMB will buy farmers’ produce besides taking care of marketing needs: Taki

PASIGHAT, Dec 26: Accompanied by more than 250 farmers, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday participated in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PMKSNY) event here from at College of Horticulture & Forestry auditorium through virtual mode which saw the digital release of Rs18,000 crore to 9 crore beneficiary farmer families of the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Terming the day a significant occasion for the farmers of the state and the country, Khandu while asserting the far-reaching benefits of PMKSNY informed that 98,200 farmers of Arunachal Pradesh are under its coverage and besides the Central contribution of Rs 6000 per annum through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the state government has also dovetailed with the central scheme with an additional Rs.1000 for each beneficiary during the pandemic. Highlighting the key role played by the farm sector in the state’s economy, the Chief Minister said that the state government has initiated various measures to boost agriculture and allied sectors. While noting the irrigation and power requirements of East Siang’s farm sector, he informed that a directive in this regard has been issued for submission of cluster-based projects under Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
Dispelling the fears surrounding the new farm laws, Khandu said they have been brought with the aim of empowering the country’s farming community and doubling their income.  Direct market linkage, maximum prices for produce, doing away with middlemen are some of the key benefits under the new farm laws, he contended. Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, MLAs Ninong Ering, Lombo Tayeng and Kaling Moyong, DC Dr. Kinny Singh, Dean, CHF Dr B.N. Hazarika and its faculty members, SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, DAO Ajit Pao, officers of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments and KVK were among others present on the occasion.

Minister Agriculture, Horticulture etc. Er. Tage Taki after witnessing the PMKSNY event from Ziro informed that Arunachal Pradesh Marketing Board (APMB) which caters to the marketing needs of the state’s agriculture and horticultural products will also buy, endorse and sell the products and by-products of the state’s farmers like pickles etc. from 2021 onwards.
While encouraging the small and marginal farmers to form FPOs to mobilise the collection and sale of vegetables, Taki urged the state’s farming community to opt for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) which provides a comprehensive insurance coverage against failure of crops. He also advised the farmers to avail the Kisan Credit Card scheme to meet their agricultural input expenditures.
More than 5070 farmers from Lower Subansiri district will be benefited under the PMKSNY. DIPRO
