ITANAGAR, Dec 9:  Attending the concluding day of the 2nd state level PMGSY review meeting today here in the state capital, RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam in his message to the field engineers said for faster growth of Arunachal Pradesh, it is essential to implement the central flagship programme in a mission mode.
The meeting involving the field functionaries engaged in implementation of the PMGSY in the state commenced on December 2 last and is meant for reviewing the progress of each rural road project primarily taking into account the technical issues.
“Rural road connectivity is one of the important infrastructure for holistic socio-economic development of the state in a time-bound manner,” RWD Secretary N.T. Glow remarked.  
During the week-long meeting, review of progress of all the ongoing works and bridges for the six Circles were carried out under the chairmanship of the RWD Secretary and senior engineers of the department. 
Currently, as part of the PMGSY, 452 road works involving a length of 4500 km and 187 long-span bridges are under various stages of construction across the state with the target to complete them within December 2021. Cumulatively, these will benefit 661 habitations in the remote and far-flung areas of the state having highly complex terrains. Inter-alia, the RWD is gearing up to increase the absorption capacity along with the knowledge base of field functionaries.  Infusion of latest technologies have also been made to replace the use of stone wherever unavailable for faster completion of works and reduction of carbon footprint.
