ZIRO, Nov 24: The Urban Development department successfully conducted a public hearing on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY) at Old DC Conference Hall in Ziro, on Tuesday last. It was conducted in the presence of Independent Facilitating Agency ( IFA ) and the department of U.D & Housing, Ziro. Independent Facilitating Agency (I.F.A) was led by John Gaingamlung Gangmei (Asst. prof. of RGU) with Toko Yami (AE,UD, Ziro), Tilling Dumi (S.D.E expert), Abin Tok (Town planner) and Tamchi Yani (M.I.S expert) as members.
The team interacted with the beneficiaries and heard out the difficulties faced by them.
After the completion of the social audit the members decided to request the higher authorities of Urban Development (U.D) to release the remaining fund for the payment to the beneficiaries, who have completed the construction of buildings and also for other beneficiaries, whose building construction are in progress. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship mission of government of India and is implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Their mission is to address urban housing among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories. The requirements for availing this benefit are that the household should have an annual income between 3-18 lakhs and the applicant or any family member is not supposed to own a pucca house.
