Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
ITANAGAR, Feb 1: Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mentioning Mon Shugu, the recently revived environment and health friendly handmade traditional paper of Tawang in his January 31 ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode.
While stating that mentioning of Mon Shugu is an honour for Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor opined it is advisable for the state government to take the millennium-old local product to world standard along with weighing of the possibility of its procurement in government offices under 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atma Nirbhar' schemes. He also proposed to felicitate all key personnel handling the revival programme in his ensuing tour to Tawang on February 14. Honouring such progressive entrepreneurs will encourage the state’s youths to ‘think out of the box’ and shun the tendency of remaining job seekers, the Governor added.
Mon Shugu has been rejuvenated recently by an NGO and other local social workers of Tawang.
