ITANAGAR, Jun 4: A plantation programme cum cleaning initiative of Senki river was organised on Thursday here at the 138 BN CRPF campus in Senki View by the State Climate Change Cell, Department of Environment & Forests with support and collaboration by Arunachal ENVIS Hub, attended by government officials and local people.
Director (Env.) D. Riba while clarifying the general confusion between Van Mahotsava and World Environment Day (WED) said the former is entirely a national plantation programme and the latter a United Nation’s programme celebrated globally on June 5 each year. He stressed to sparing time for nature, active participation in water conservation activities and using of eco-friendly & biodegradable products as a part of the celebration.
Chairman of the YMCR-AP S.D Loda underlined the need to protect Mother Nature and Commanding Officer, CRPF, Senki Camp Paras Nath stressed on keeping the environment clean for a healthy life. Information Officer (ENVIS) Tanu Siram elaborated on the Online Environmental Quiz for the students of Class VI-X being hosted by Arunachal ENVIS Hub (AEH), DoEF to observe the WED and informed that winners of will be given E-certificate through their registered email id soon and the result can also be checked through www.arpenvis.org.in. He further disclosed that Arunachal ENVIS Hub is planning to conduct more such activities in future such as essay & poem writing, drawing, painting & poster competition, logo design etc. on environment related events like World Ozone Day etc.
PCCF & Prl. Secy. (Environment & Forests) R. K Singh stressed on digital activities to be carried out on such occasions by observing Covid-19 guidelines and informed that the Clean Senki River Mission Project has been converged to take up cleanliness and plantation activities on the eve of WED 2020.
The mass plantation drive was carried at CRPF camp premises near Senki River participated by PCCF & Prl. Secy. (Environment & Forests), PCCF (Environment Climate Change cum Wildlife & Biodiversity) G. Kumar and others.
