ITANAGAR, Apr 21: Responding to the agitation launched by social activist Sol Dodum, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today informed that the Chief Engineer of PHED has been deputed for ground verification on allegations of undrinkable water being supplied in the Seppa town, of which the report will be out in a couple of days.
Speaking to reporters, Khandu said that though he is yet to go through the memorandum submitted by Dodum,however, he is aware of the foot march and has asked the PHE & WS minister to look into the matter of water supply.The concern minister has immediately deployed the CE of the department to verify the reports, added the CM.
“I didn’t go through the memorandum yet submitted by Sol Dodum, as I was out of station, but I am aware of the march. I’ll go through the memorandum and accordingly take further needed steps,” he said.
Dodum, who marched a distance covering around 250 km from Seppa to Itanagar demanding potable drinking water in the Seppa Township, has taken out a sit-in protest at IG park near here which has entered the third day today.
Earlier, he also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding for a permanent PHED executive engineer in the district, replacing the in-charge incumbent EE.
He also demanded the formation of an SIT to investigate the recent attack on him and his members during a peaceful protest at Seppa on April 12, departmental action against EE-PHED Seppa, transfer of Deputy Commissioner East Kameng, the registration of a case for probing corruption in the water treatment Plant (WTP) at Lai Moya and Macha and the water supply project at Kuchi Nallah.
