ITANAGAR, Apr 28:  Days after activist Sol Dodum resorted to hunger strike as part of his ongoing agitation, Minister for PHE & WS Wangki Lowang today appealed to him to put an end to his ongoing hunger strike stating that 'the department has accepted his demand for potable water supply in Seppa Township.'
Addressing the media persons at the Civil Secretariat conference hall here today, Lowang said that his department has already assured to provide potable water to the public in the district headquarters of East Kameng. He said that due to accumulation of excess sand and various other reasons in the water supply point, there was turbidity in the water. The WTP which was supposed to be completed a year before was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.
However, now the new pre-sedimentation tank is being installed to provide potable water to the town, he asserted while appealing Dodum to end the hunger strike.  Lowang also assured that the department is working on resolving the water problem at the earliest.  "Such a task can’t be accomplished overnight, therefore, I urge to wait till the deadline of work completion." He also said that the department is ready to talk with Dodum on any other issues related to water supply in the town.
Lowang   also informed that a state level independent committee of higher officials has been set up to investigate the entire matter, including allegations of corruption in the department. “Therefore, once the final report is out, the department will take action according to it,” he added.
