ITANAGAR, Jul 17:  A day after Hawa Bagang, President,  All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) refuted allegations against  him  for Rs 12.45 crore money fraud  by one Vidya Amarnath, the CEO of the Chennai-based firm, Paterson & Co. Maitreyan Amarnath termed the statement of the AAPSU President as a ‘total lie ‘.
When contacted over phone, CEO of Paterson & Co , Amarnath claimed that he met Hawa Bagang in Itanagar and even his company’s representative one K Venkatesh who was stationed in Itanagar for at least three months had met Bagang many a time.
When asked about any information about the forged Loma Yama Enterprises bank account in Vijaya Bank (now Bank of Baroda) as claimed by Bagang, Amarnath said,  "They have done  business with the said firm and if the employee of the Loma Yama Enterprises duped Bagang, it is not their fault. Moreover, Bagang should question the Bank manager  about the KYC; about the introducer during the opening of the account."
"Who is Rupam Saikia, claiming to be the power of attorney holder for Loma Yama Enterprises’ and who came to open the account as the owner of the firm," he questioned.
The entire amount was transferred through RTGS from company to company account and we have informed about the transaction even to their employee Rohit Das, Rupam Gohain and others, said Amarnath and disclosed two more names -Kipa Ayo and K Kanti Das- alleging that they were also involved in the case but Bagang is not taking their names in the statement.
Further, alleging hand-in-glove of  the  Bank Manager in the whole episode, he stated the Bank Manager should clarify the identity of Akash Dolo.
Expressing dismay at the poor investigation of the matter by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Arunachal Pradesh Police, Amarnath questioned, " SIT has not done a proper job. There are so many loopholes in the SIT investigation. How many of the 44 different people who received the money have been questioned in this matter? Rs 20 lacs was received by a former MLA. Has SIT called and questioned him?  They are political well connected people."
Given the circumstances, the CEO disclosed,  they have filed a petition in the Guwahati High Court seeking an order for CBI inquiry into the whole episode.
