PASIGHAT, Jan 23: Pasighatians paid homage to beloved national hero Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Saturday at the 2-mile area. To commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bose, East Siang Bengali Welfare Association (ESBA) observed “Parakram Diwas” in a befitting manner which was graced by the ADC (HQ) Tatdo Borang and Kenrik Ete Moyong, better half of the 38-East Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

The duo along with other dignitaries present on the occasion paid floral tributes to the portrait of Bose and recalled the unparalleled contribution of Netaji to India's freedom struggle.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Borang stated that Netaji's patriotism and sacrifice would always inspire us adding that the entire nation would always remember his sacrifice and dedication for the independence of the country. Bose was good in academics and stood second in his matriculation exam in 1913 and forth in Indian Civil Services (ICS) examination. However, he resigned from his ICS job in 1921 as he did not want to work under the British government and came back to India from England which effectively acted as his initiation into India’s struggle for freedom. Borang threw light on formation of Azad Hind Fauj and bravery of Bose, in his deliberation. The ADC conveyed his thanks and gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government for declaration 23rd January as “Parakram Diwas” and appreciated ESBA members for observing the day in true spirit and in a befitting manner.

Earlier, Moyong in her brief speech remembered Netaji’s indomitable spirit and exhorted all to imbibe the qualities of patriotism and selflessness exhibited by Bose. Taking the privilege, she appealed the parents to ensure schooling for every girl child for brighter careers of girls and equal contribution by them in nation building. DIPRO
