PASIGHAT, Dec 15: The Siang River Festival is being celebrated on December 20 & 21 here at the banks of Raneghat as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of India’s Independence.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu & DCM Chowna Mein, Chairman Brahmaputra Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India, Rajiv Yadav will also attend the inaugural ceremony.
 The inaugural ceremony which will begin from 2 PM will also feature cultural presentations of Folk Artistes  of various North East states, by North East Zone Cultural Centre(NEZCC)) , Folk Artistes from the State will also participate on the theme of River & Freedom Struggle. Exhibitions by SHGs, Food stalls, Exhibition stalls on tourism, Drug de-addiction, Poshan Abhiyan, handloom & handicrafts, financial literacy by banks, health, Agri-horti, Water Resources and various other government departments will also be put up. 
The Siang chapter of the Brahmaputra Utsav is organized by the State Government in collaboration with the Brahmaputra Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI, on the theme of River rejuvenation & Freedom Struggle.  
Various events & activities to create awareness on River cleaning, rejuvenation, rainwater harvesting, storytelling on Freedom fighters, painting competition on water conservation, shramdaan at local water bodies, also lined up as a run-up to the main event beginning 17th December. Awareness on Jal Jeevan Mission, Swacch Bharat Mission Gramin at the community level are also being carried out. DIPRO
