TEZU, Jan 12: The annual Parshuram Kund Festival 2023 officially began at Wakro today with pilgrims taking holy dip at the Kund. 
Deputy Commissioner Lohit, Shashvat Saurabh and SP Minjum Ete took a briefing on duties to be performed by all the stakeholders. DC stated that all must work hard to facilitate the pilgrims coming from far to have a hassle-free holy dip. He gave an overview of all the routes, and facilities for free food and accommodation arranged for the visiting pilgrims. He further stated that as the covid restrictions have been lifted this year a large number of pilgrims are expected. 
The SP said that sufficient police force has been deployed for the event and emergency services by NDRF and SDRF, fire and emergency services are ready for any emergency like situation.
This year bio toilets have been installed by PHE&W for the pilgrims. Further Indian Army (4 Madras) has set up medical camp at the festival ground along with the health unit from Zonal General Hospital Tezu at all the strategic locations of the Kund. 
Trade fair is also organised at the festival ground Tezu wherein vendors from all corners of the country have set up stalls. Further the local people of the district have also set up food stalls and local produce such as oranges.
