ITANAGAR, May 12:  Former Minister and INC candidate from 18-Palin Assembly Constituency Takam Pario has demanded another re-poll in Rakso and Balo polling stations and suspension of the Deputy Commissioner for his alleged nepotism and failure to control law and order situation in the district.
Speaking to reporters at Press Club today, Pario said “I have never seen such a chaotic situation during the election process as this time with a war-like situation and failure of administration to control law and order problems. Even underage youths obstructed roads and were involved in checking vehicles with administration remaining mute spectator,” alleged Pario.
Demanding re-poll in Rakso and Balo polling stations, the INC candidate alleged that voters were stopped and obstructed one kilometre ahead of the polling station with rival groups pelting stones, using catapults and blocking road to stop genuine voters from exercising their franchises.  However, during scrutiny, DEO has failed to table the reports of Sector Magistrate and Presiding Officer regarding various malpractices during the election process, Pario said.
“It is an open secret that more than 200 genuine voters were not allowed to enter in Rakso polling station, even they obstructed me and also damaged my car. What is more surprising is that even police personnel were assaulted by the miscreants who were there in large numbers,” slammed Pario.
While responding to queries on the election malpractices in the polling stations,  Pario said  “ BJP  government is misusing its power and position and employing all its power to defeat me, as I was the leader of opposition as well as Congress legislature party leader.”
Further refuting the allegation of using cash for vote, he categorically said “there should be a proper inquiry to unearth the truth.” Regarding postal ballot, Paro clarified that only government employee can cast a postal ballot, whereas in case of   Rakso polling station most of them were villagers and unemployed and so there is no question of bogus votes.
When asked about the demand made by former Home Minister Kumar Waii on financial status of the state, the INC candidate categorically said “I  support the demands made by the former Home Minister, as he was  a part of the government  and since day one  I had been fighting  against the corrupt practices of the state  BJP government.”
