ITANAGAR, Oct 3: MLA, Nampong Laisam Simai today called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) here at Raj Bhavan and discussed issues concerning border trade from Pangsau Pass, near Nampong in Changlang district with Myanmar.
Governor, while reiterating that cross-border trade is an effective tool for boosting local economy as well as social development, advised the MLA to take initiatives for its commencement at the earliest.
In this regard he also advised the MLA to visit Moreh in Manipur with a study group and take necessary inputs for making the Pangsau Pass border haat more effective and secured.
On his part, the Governor spoke to his counterpart, the Governor of Manipur Najma Heptulla to facilitate the visit of the state team comprising Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte and Nampong MLA to Moreh, a town located on the India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district of Manipur. He stressed that arrangements for border trade and tourists’ visits at Pangsau Pass should be the country’s best.
Governor also advised the MLA to convene meetings to promote ‘Homestay’ provisions during Pangsau Pass Festival in the Nampong town. PRO Raj Bhavan
