YACHULI, Jan 31: Kebi Panchayat under Yachuli Constituency has banned all kinds of illegal hunting, poaching, and timbering within its jurisdiction. The decision was taken during the gun surrender cum signature campaign on environmental awareness programme on Sunday at Seer-Pith village.
The programme was organised by the All Pith-Seer Youth Welfare Association (APSYWA) in collaboration with Yachuli Forest Range, Department of Environment and Forest and Climate Change.
Attending as a resource person, Circle Officer, Yazali, Tashi Wangchu Thongdok, highlighted the significance of cross pollination through birds, bees and other wildlife. He also suggested organizing bird watching trail, butterfly meet and awareness camps on the importance of the relationship between nature and human beings.
While assuring to extend all assistance to the Kebi Panchayat, the CO agreed to issue an administrative order to counter and ban all illegal hunting and poaching activities in the area.
With the surrender of two more air guns at the awareness camp, the total surrendered weapons by denizens of Lower Subansiri district has reached 128 under the AirGun Surrender Abhiyaan.
