NAHARLAGUN, Feb 19: With the objective of spreading mass awareness on the importance of legal marriage, Women Helpline-181 run by Oju Welfare Association (OWA) in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) today conducted a free one-day marriage registration camp here at the OWA campus.
Chairperson, OWA Ratan Anya while stating that the concept and practice of legal marriage is still unknown to many people, informed that the camp was organised keeping in mind that private lawyers charge hefty fees for marriage registration. She further informed that due to rampant increase in reporting of women-related cases viz. domestic violence, maintenance, property dispute etc. at the Helpline and to assist the distressed women, the camp was conducted. Legal Aid Counsel, APSLSA Raknyu Konya deliberated on the key factors of marriage registration.
Altogether 55 couples got themselves registered during the camp. The Helpline’s Project Manager Yachu Binny was also present on the occasion. OWA PR
