BOMDILA, Sep 24: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), West Kameng District held an orientation programme on Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act, 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Bomdila which was attended by the CDPOs of the District, Special Juvenile Police Unit, Child Welfare Police Officer, Member of Child Welfare Committee and NGOs.
OC, Bomdila Police Station, K. Dev, presented a powerpoint on Juvenile Justice Act and explained about children in need of care and protection including children in conflict with the law. He also spoke in detail about the procedure the police should follow if they come across children in conflict with the law.
Protection Officer, DCPU, West Kameng District, Dr Rinchin Megejee, presented powerpoint on POCSO Act, 2012 where he elaborated about different types of sexual offenses and punishment associated with them. Speaking on Child Trafficking, Counselor, DCPU Sameer Khabisow, cited examples from the state and said that there are many instances of child trafficking happening in and around which needs to be addressed.
