ITANAGAR, Aug 24: Weeks after the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) registered a suo-moto case in the viral purported audio clip claiming ‘Cash for Job’ scam in the recent Nursing Officers recruitment at Tezu, the SIC on August 20 last arrested a man, called Banbo Pertin in connection with the case. This was informed by the Superintendent of Police-SIC (Vigilance) M Harsha Vardhan today.
Speaking to the media, the Superintendent of Police stated ‘For the investigation, we have sent our team to Tezu and traced one Banbo Pertin who acted as a middle man and collected cash from two candidates who appeared in the said examination for Nursing Officer under NHM at Tezu. Out of the two candidates, one has qualified in the exam and a cash transaction of Rs 1.5 lakh rupees has been traced out from the account at SBI Tezu. We have attached the account as of now.'
SP further disclosed that the other candidate who did not qualify in the exam was refunded the rupees two lakhs.
'Dr. Siang Tamut who was the DRCHO of Tezu at the time of the exam is in the custody of SIC,' he stated.
The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) registered a suo-moto case at PS SIC (Vig) vide FIR no. 18/20 u/s 120B IPC and 7,8, 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act on August 17 last after alleged audio on Cash for Job went viral on social media.
Earlier, Health Minister Alo Libang had also directed the authority concerned for immediate inquiry and assured action against people involved in such cash for job scandals.
The local public of Tezu, Lohit district lodged an FIR at Police station Tezu, and All Mishmi Students Union had also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Lohit cum Chairman –District Health Society seeking an investigation in the viral audio clip on August 17 last.
