ITANAGAR, Jun 7: Family members of late Ojing Taying along with the members of the Arunachal Unit of North East Human Rights Organization called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu today at his office and submitted a joint memorandum, giving a three-month time frame to solve the case and arrest the culprits.
Speaking to media, Jeetin Taying, father of Ojing Taying lamented that despite repeated pleas and submission of memorandums, state government and its machinery has failed to provide justice. Moreover, Investigating Officers of the case keep changing, causing delay of the case, Jeetin Taying said. As per report, more than seven IOs have been changed in the last two years.
“This is my fourth meeting with Chief Minister but every time I got only assurance after assurance, now I am waiting for the judgment day,” lamented the father. However, he also expressed hope that this time justice will be delivered.
General Secretary, NEHRO (AP) Buteng Tayeng who accompanied the family members also slammed the state government for its failure to solve the case despite more than two years passing. “Today we have submitted a memorandum serving three-month time frame with the hope that some positive development will come up this time,” added Tayeng.
He also questioned the government for keeping the family members in the dark regarding the rejection of the case by CBI. “I have personally visited the CBI Head Office in May last where I came to know that the CBI has rejected the case. While responding on Rs 3 lakh reward to the informer, Tayeng stated that although the initiative is appreciable, it is unthinkable that lure of cash award will solve the case. State government should come clear on the issue, either they surrender and close the case or solve it immediately, he added.
Meanwhile, Tayeng also requested the Chief Minister to establish one modern Forensic Science Laboratory in the state so that cases of crimes like this could be solved within a stipulated time frame.
