BOMDILA, Jul 13: The West Kameng administration successfully evacuated forty five people stranded on the landslide-hit BCT road today.
Officials covered a distance of 20km on foot to reach those stranded in between Sessa and Zero point. A total of 45 people and 21 vehicles including the state transport bus plying between Thrizino and Tezpur were stranded between these points before Circle Officer Bhalukpong Topek Kakki, Inspector Duto Bagra and team came to their rescue.
With men and machines from the BRTF, minor blockades were cleared and the people evacuated on transshipment to Bhalukpong and safety by the BRO trucks after a 10 km walk.
The stranded vehicles are still at Sessa as a portion of the road has been completely washed away at Suppari point. Connectivity is expected to be restored in a couple of days if the weather improves. DIPRO
