ITANAGAR, Mar 7: Following the broad daylight assault on the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nyapin by unknown miscreants, several associations have condemned the incident in the strongest terms and expressed solidarity with the officer concerned.
The ADC, Kento Riba fell a victim of attack by some unknown miscreants at Potin, Lower Subansiri district on March 5 last at about 10.30 am who forcefully stopped his car near an abandoned roadway restaurant and injured him and his driver grievously with sticks. The miscreants fled from the spot within 5 minutes after looting money, official documents, suitcase and gun.
This cowardice act of a sincere, genuine and dedicated APCS officer while on duty is condemnable in the strongest term, the Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) said in a release today expressing concern over the attack on one of its senior members. It also appealed the local student organization and public of Nyapin Nyobia area to cooperate and help the DA and police department for early arrest of the culprits.
Furthermore, the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) and Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers’ Association (APCSOA) have also strongly condemned the attack on the official.
CoSAAP has demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants involved at the earliest and stringent punishment as per law. It has also urged the home department to provide security to all important offices and officers in the state during the crucial financial year end so that they can work peacefully without fear or intimidation.
Secretary General Gonya Riba and Vice President Likha Tech visited the ADC today to enquire about his well-being and assured him every support.
APCSOA has also echoed the same sentiments and protested strongly against the assault. It has urged the state government to set up an enquiry into the incident immediately and arrest the persons involved. This act blatantly undermines the position and services provided by the administrators and is aimed at silencing those who are serving the government and public despite being exposed to life threatening situations, APCSOA’s press release said.
It has also strongly urged the state government to immediately provide personal security officers to all ADCs and administrators to avoid repetition of such ugly incidents. ES Newdesk
