Khonsa, Oct 7: In a major operation conducted jointly by Assam Rifles in Khonsa and Tirap Police a hardcore NSCN-K(YA) cadre was apprehended who was involved in the 3 December  2016 ambush on a Assam Rifles convoy in Arunachal’s Longding District which resulted in martyrdom of two soldiers of the Assam Rifles. The apprehended cadre was also involved in kidnapping of a businessman from Tisa Village in June 2015 alongwith extortion activities in Longding District.
A joint team apprehended the cadre on  October 6, from the paddy fields between Dadam and Muktwa villages based on specific inputs received from intelligence agencies. 
The continuous efforts, relentless pursuit and joint operations by Assam Rifles and Tirap Police to apprehend various hardcore underground cadres active in Tirap district trying to disrupt peace and harmony have been paying huge dividends and due to increased public support to the Security Forces a number of successful operations have been conducted in the recent past. 
The apprehended hardcore insurgent has been identified as Self Styled Sergeant Major Wangkhu Wangsa of NSCN-K(YA). The apprehension of this hardcore cadre has dealt a serious blow to the nefarious activities of the banned outfit in the region.
