LONGDING, Oct 17: A team of Indian Army, 6th Assam Rifles neutralized a NSCN(K) cadre here today at Longding district.
The incident occurred in the wee hours on Saturday in between Wakka and Chongkhow village when the Assam Rifles team was on a routine patrol. The slain NSCN (K) cadre has been identified as Ganjon Wangsa age around 30 years.
"As per information, there were four NSCN(K) cadred however, three of them managed to escape from the scene during the encounter with the security forces. A pistol and a grenade has been recovered from the neutralized cadre," informed Deputy Superintendent of Police, Longding, T Tangjang.
Recently, on October 4 last, an Assam Rifles jawan was martyred while another injured in an ambush carried out by group of NSCN (K) and ULFA(I) militants in Changlang district.
