ITANAGAR, May 29: Congratulating newly sworn-in Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his council of ministers, the National People’s Party (NPP) said that it will extend unconditional support to the Pema led BJP government for allround development of the state and its people,
While mentioning about the recent assassination of NPP MLA Tirong Aboh and ten others at Khonsa, state NPP leaders urged the state government to investigate it properly to unearth the truth behind the massacre.
“Along with our National President and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma we met Union Minister of Home Rajnath Singh and requested him for an inquiry on the whole episode. Soon a delegation will meet Chief Minister Khandu on the issue," said Spokesperson Mutchu Mithi.
The party also said it will look at ways to support the family of late Aboh and the areas he represented. We have also requested the Meghalaya government to confer ex-gratia to the family members of those killed in the massacre at Khonsa and we are expecting the same from the state BJP government, Mithi said.
Mithi also disclosed that NPP will soon be a National Political party as it has qualified the required criterion as per the Election Commission of India. This is the first time a Northeast-based regional party will be declared as National Political Party, he said.
