ITANAGAR, Dec 6: National People’s Party (NPP)  Arunachal Unit today condemned the Nagaland firing incident where innocent civilians were killed in an ambush by the Armed Forces and demanded repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
"The recent incident of ambush by Security Forces leading to the massacre of 13 innocent unarmed civilians near Oting village in Mon district, Nagaland, paints an atrocious heart-breaking picture.This is a stark reminder of how Armed Forces have with impunity misused AFSPA as a repressive tool to enforce in a reign of systemic widespread terror on citizens of NE disrupting every peace process. AFSPA must be repealed," President NPP(AP) Mutchu Mithi said in a statement.
"We condemn this tragic incident and demand that perpetrators must be brought to justice immediately. In this hour of tragedy, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost their precious lives and stand in solidarity with the people of Nagaland," the statement further reads.
