PASIGHAT, May 31: The Pasighat Municipal Council has decided to declare the non-designated parking areas in the township as ‘No parking zones’ so that citizens can park only in the designated parking lots from where parking fees will be officially collected.
The decision came following a meeting held on May 24 last at the PMC conference hall which discussed the objection raised by Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing over parking fees/charges collected from non-designated areas in the Pasighat market area. The decision was passed and adopted in the meeting chaired by Chief Councillor, Pasighat Municipal Council Okiam Moyong Borang and attended by councillors and office bearers of the PMC, elected PRI leaders from Bogong-I & II, members of CBOs like Bogong Banggo Kebang, its youth wing BBYK, representatives the from Pasighat Market Association etc. It was decided that Rs. 20 per day for 4-wheelers and Rs 10 for 2-wheelers will be charged as parking fees. The rest of the parking space under the market square (non-designated parking lots) will be marked as ‘No Parking Zone’ and a violation will attract fine.
While supporting the decision, the All Bogong Students’ Union (ABSU) has appealed to the citizens to park their vehicles inside the designated parking spaces. The union has further appealed to the PMC to develop more parking areas in market areas like Kampo Bakery, Orin market and Sangrila restaurant etc. for public convenience.
