ITANAGAR, Mar 22 : The Chief Medical Superintendent of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Hage Ambing informed that no single positive case of COVID-19 has been detected or reported in the state so far.
Panic amongst the denizens is being created by rumour mongers. Instead of creating rumours, people should cooperate with the Health Department at this hour so that proper and effective screening would be held in every corner, added the CMS.
We have suggested home quarantine of at least 14 days for those people entering Arunachal from different states of the country. If a case seems suspicious, we collect a sample and track the record daily, Dr. Ambing said.
When asked about separate COVID-19 Ward at TRIHMS, he informed that presently hospital has a 5-bedded ICU,6-bedded isolation room which will be upgraded to at least 24 bedded as per the needs.
Further informing about COVID-19 Testing Centres, Dr. Ambing informed that proposal is in place to set-up the center. “There is technical procedure involved. We have to correlate with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-Dibrugarh and state authority. So, as soon as all such procedure is complete , we will start the Testing Center."
While responding to query of thermal temperature screening, CMS informed that this is the best and fast way to screen for symptoms in larger way. We can advise the person for self-quarantine and also track their record if found to be suspicious during thermal temperature screening, he said.
When asked about a viral social media message about Arunachalee students returning from Bangalore found covid-19 positive, CMS categorically claimed that there is no such report from state nodal officer as well as from authority of TRIHMS.
Clarifying about a couple who recently visited Europe, Dr Ambing informed that they have been screened and have tested negative; however, they have been advised home quarantine for next 14 days.
Meanwhile, CMS requested everyone not to create rumours that may cause panic and maintain social distance as far as possible.
