ITANAGAR, Apr 9: Amidst reports of shortages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) , Health Minister Alo Libang today informed that more than 8000 PPEs has been received by the health department and accordingly it will be distributed to every district.
This is the second consignment of PPEs which the state has received. Earlier the first batch evoked much criticism due to the poor quality of products leading the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Health Minister to step in.
Responding to query over the quality of the present stock, Libang said as assured, officials have been directed to order high-quality PPE and this time leading healthcare manufacturer HLL is providing the PPE.
'We won’t compromise with the quality, and strict action will be taken against the official or authority who is found compromising with the quality,’ the Minister asserted.
'We cannot put our frontline warriors at risk, so I have suggested to provide PPE to even the health staff who are stationed at check gates and to the police personnel assisting health workers.'
‘Health workers in Flu clinic, Health staff, and police in the check gates are more vulnerable to be infected by COVID-19 as they are the ones who handle suspected patients in the advance stage,' stated Libang.
Meanwhile, acknowledging the selfless work being executing by the various frontlineworkers from Health, Police, Administration and essential commodities carrier, Libang has extended his appreciation.
I extend my gratitude to all the frontline workers including IOC depots for uninterrupted services during this trying times, he said.
