YUPIA, Feb 8: Union MoS Youth & Sports Affairs Kiren Rijiju today graced the sixth convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh here amidst a large gathering of graduating students, faculty members, government officials and guardians.
Rijiju while addressing the gathering informed that higher education in the country is undergoing a major transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Act East Policy has ensured development in Arunachal and entire Northeast at par with the rest of India. Reiterating the state NIT’s important role in imparting quality education, the Union MoS informed that an additional amount of Rs. 430.56 crore has been allotted this year and congratulated the institution for having received a four-star rating in 2018-19 from the MHRD.
He also urged the stakeholders to be socially conscious and competent citizens to effectively contribute to the mission of Act East Policy and concluded his speech, especially meant for the graduating students by quoting from the legendary wrestler Dan Gable, “Gold medals are not really made of gold, they are made of sweat, determination and a hard to find alloy called guts’’. Director NIT Meghalaya Professor Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal who attended as Guest of Honour appealed all to make the institution stronger.
