YUPIA Nov 15:Dr. Ashok Sahu, Thematic Special Rapporteur of National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi who is on a five-day visit to the state  interacted with Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Dr.Joram Beda, Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo and other officers here today .
Dr.Ashok informed that the main objective of his visit is to discuss the issues of  human rights and developmental activities pertaining to survey of bonded labour, migrant labour and labour trafficking in the state to assess their welfare measures, economic bondage and trafficking issues. Informing about financial provision of the Union government for conducting survey, he said that   Rs.4 lakhs will be given  to every district to conduct the survey on bonded labour. He also pointed out the basic minimum welfare activities that need to be provided to migrant workers working in different sectors like minimum wages, future comforts like accommodation, health, subsidised food, social security schemes  and education to children.  Dr. Ashok also highlighted about the government rehabilitation schemes of bonded labour or workers.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Dr.Beda briefed about the present status of bonded labour and migrant labour in the state and said due to change in social scenario of the state a lot of changes have taken place and many welfare activities initiated to rehabilitate the bonded labourers which existed once upon a time. Presently, he said no such system exists in the state.  
Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo also spoke on the present status of child labour, migrant labour and labour trafficking cases in the district.  
At the very outset Labour Register Officer Koj Kano gave a presentation on the status of labour in the district and Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
