ITANAGAR, Aug 7: National Human Rights Commission – Law Divison  served a  notice to Chief Secretary seeking report on the  alleged medical negligence at Rama Krishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar leading to the death of a woman and her newborn baby in April this year within the next four weeks.
In case, the report is not received within the stipulated time, the Commission shall be constrained to invoke coercive process u/s 13 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 for the personal appearance of the concerned authority, stated the Commission in its letter.
In April, Biju Saikia alleged that his wife Nang Kyanari  Khen and newborn baby boy died due to negligence of doctor and lack of proper healthcare during labour process at RKM Hospital, Itanagar.
Following the incident, North East Human Rights Organization had lodged a complaint against the hospital in the NHRC on July 1.
