ZIRO, Feb 22 : Minister RWD, Science and Technology, Honchun Ngandam today hailed the Apatani community for their hardworking nature, dedication and disciplined way of life. He also lauded the ‘Paddy -cum-Fish culture’, a unique system followed by the Apatanis terming it a “system of sustainable farming not found anywhere in the world.”
Ngandam was speaking at the function commemorating the 50 Years of Ngilyang Grayu Government  Secondary School, Tajang in Ziro on Tuesday. The school was established as Lower Primary School in 1971 with an OBT building constructed on donated land.
The Minister lauded the people of Tajang village for their efforts and dedication in developing the school that has produced so many officers including IFS officers, doctors, engineers, bureaucrats, social workers and many state leaders.
Minister Agri, Horti, AHV and Fisheries Tage Taki who was the Chief Patron of the Celebration Committee, Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, MLA Ninong Ering and former minister Padi Richo were also present.
On the occasion Tage Lampung Cultural Hall,  Millo Piliya Futsal Ground, Radhe Gyute Football Ground and Tage Dolo Jubilee Hall of the school was inaugurated. The statue of Late Ngilyang Grayu was also unveiled on the occasion. A Souvenir ‘Tajang’ and an audio album ‘Ditii latii’ were also released on the occasion.
