Khonsa, Oct 7: The newly elected All Ollo Welfare Association (AOWA) executive members led by its President Jentoi Moinyak and Convener Yangwok Tinnyan called on SP, Tirap here at his office chamber on Wednesday.
Congratulating the newly elected members, SP Kardak Riba exhorted them to work selflessly for society and assured all help whenever needed. The AOWA members while emphasising on the need to curb the menace of opium cultivation in Lazu area, requested the SP to continue the awareness programmes in this regard and pursue the state government to arrange alternative crop cultivation routes in lieu of kaani/opium destruction.
The SP while appealing to the members to help the police and security agencies in maintaining peace in the area, observed that the Ollo people living along the Indo-Myanmar border must act as eyes and ears of the government. Keeping in view that only a few people from Lazu are in government jobs, SP assured that Tirap police will conduct pre-recruitment job awareness training to equip the local unemployed youths to face the exams confidently. He also appealed to the unemployed youths to explore the possibilities of joining Arunachal Pradesh Police instead of indulging in anti-social activities.
It was decided that the AOWA executive members along with Tirap Police will tour the Indo-Myanmar border area after the rainy season. DIPRO
