Itanagar, Aug 8: The Nyishi Ethnic Students of Arunachal (NESA) in its executive meeting held on Saturday here in the state capital, besides rejecting the demand for creation of Mon Autonomous Council (MAC) has also demanded Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s resignation for his “favouritism” stand on the issue.
Rejecting the autonomous council demand outright, NESA said its acceptance will automatically make other regions and tribes to press for similar demand which will divide the state into many parts. Elaborating on the reasons for their demand for CM’s resignation which was passed through a resolution during the meeting, the student body said since inception of the current Khandu-led government a series of problems have cropped up in the state such as death of three youths over the anti-PRC issue due to mismanagement and failure to control protests and the Trans Arunachal Highway scam. “In terms of socio-economic, educational, health and other developmental activities, he has been found to practice a favouritism form of governance in the state and recently when he called up a meeting with the Mon Autonomous Region Demand
While demanding the dissolution of the Department of Karmik & Adhyatmik and the Department of TLC or create Taniland, it opined that creation of these two departments has “caused huge disparity within the fellow Arunachalees” and has appealed the state government to treat all citizens equally.
Referring to ANYA’s 36-hour bandh call, NESA while supporting it, however, informed that even if it is withdrawn subsequently, it will go ahead with its own style of bandh and agitation until their demands are fulfilled. NESA PR
