YAZALI, Aug 2: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) today formally launched its School Adoption Programme here at Government Higher Secondary School, Yazali in presence of Minister of Education, Cultural Affairs etc. Taba Tedir, Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe, NES President Bengia Tolum, NES, ANSU, ANYA executive members and other dignitaries. 
In the wake of poor performance of students in CBSE examination and high dropout rates in the last few years, NES has decided to adopt one school in each Nyishi dominated district which will serve as model schools.   Education Minister stated that he has directed to put up pictures of teachers in schools along with their subjects. He said students should be provided with friendly yet professional environment so that they can approach the teachers to clear doubts and confusions without hesitation. 
The Minister informed that there are 3793 schools in the state out of which around 500 are not functioning properly due to zero enrolments. Stressing on the importance of teacher-parent relationship, Tedir said “teachers should apprise the parents about the behaviour and performance of students  in the school and class, so that they can advise and guide them better.”

He also stated that school campuses should be tobacco free zones and asked the teachers not to allow mobile phones in classrooms. 

Meanwhile, the Minister assured for construction of boundary walls and school auditorium soon in GHSS, Yazali and   requested the DC to take up the school on priority basis and provide scheme from untied fund besides directing the concerned DDSE to support the adopted school on priority. 
Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe also stressed on the importance of quality education and discipline in schools. Earlier Tedir and his team inspected the girls and defunct boys hostel and the boundary of the school campus and directed the authority to maintain cleanliness in the campus.
President of NES while informing that NES will adopt seven schools this year, added that they will adopt either Secondary schools or Higher Secondary schools and constitute a committee to work on providing better education to the students. The society and committee will inspect the adopted schools and identify issues that need immediate attention like status of subject teachers, water supply, electrification and infrastructure etc, by involving cross section of people of the areas including SMCs, alumni of the schools and students leaders, added NES President. 
He also informed that periodic/unit tests shall be encouraged as per the existing norms with improvised methods as required.
