ITANAGAR, Jul 14: Irked by the non responsive attitude of the authority towards the state’s lone technical university, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), the Students Union of NERIST ( SUN ) and  NERIST   Research  Scholars Association (NRSA) has submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh  for immediate appraisal of their demand  failing which they have threatened to boycott the scheduled admission process in the institution .

SUN and NRSA is demanding immediate release of their three month scholarship fees for at least 150 PhD scholars, release of House Rent Allowances (HRA), Contingency Grant along with permanent Director and release of salaries of NERIST employees.

Speaking to reporters at press club today, SUN President, Banta Natung opined that despite repeated pleas to NERIST authority nothing positive has come out thus compelling the students to  come in front of the media.

‘We don’t want our institute to be highlighted in media for bad reasons but situation has compelled us to fight for our right,’ added the student leader.

Natung also claimed that due to financial crunch the newly constructed Hostel building for boys is yet to be handed over to the Institution due to nonpayment of dues against the executing agencies. ‘We had numerous roundtable discussions with Deputy Registrar (Finance) Registrar and Director In-charge but they remained silent on the issue and blaming the MHRD for the mess.

‘We are demanding our basic rights provided by  the Institution and MHRD but NERIST authority has failed to confer  the same for last three months’ said President –NRSA, Mudang Taro while adding that due to non release of incentives many  scholars are facing problems in their research and  in admission process for next academic session.
