ITANAGAR, Jul 15: Even as the discontent over Kimin fiasco is yet to subside in the state, in a similar incident, the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO Ltd) has shown Bichom in West Kameng as a part of Assam in its draft copy of Emergency Action Plan for the 600 mw Kameng Hydroelectric Plant.
“Since the last 18-20 years, NEEPCO has been constructing the 600 mw dam in Bichom under Singchung Circle of West Kameng district. Then how come they made such a gross mistake. We demand an immediate apology from the NEEPCO authority as they have hurt the sentiments of the local people, failing which the All Bugun Society (ABS) will resort to protests against NEEPCO,” General Secretary, ABS Sunil Bachung said.
Condemning the incident, President, All Aka (Hrusso) Students’ Union Atul Thasusow remarked that a mistake of this proportion from NEEPCO is not acceptable by the student organisation of Aka society and although corrections are being initiated, the mistake, which has now gone viral on social media has to be explained. A team from the union will also visit the NEEPCO office to get a first-hand report, he added.
Meanwhile, accepting the mistake and terming it “unintentional,” Project Head, Kameng Hydroelectric Plant, N Bhuyan has sought an apology from the locals and the people of entire Arunachal Pradesh.
We have already corrected the mistake as soon as we noticed the error, he added, while informing that the draft copy containing the mistake was leaked by some unknown person.
