Shillong, Feb 14: Continuing with their Consultative meets here, the North Eastern Council (NEC) today dwelt on the issue of Start-up chaired by its member Professor Biman Kr. Dutta and attended by other member Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi and Secretary, NEC K. Moses Chalai.
The meeting attended by various start-up entrepreneurs hailing from different parts of the region focused on understanding the potential of start-ups, issues and challenges. While the discussion emphasised on utilising all marketing platforms, the participants shared at length their experiences including the challenges and scopes and how the Central government can play the role of a promoter of Start-up culture in the region. There were discussions on the facilitating role of NEC and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in making a favourable policy environment for growth of start-ups in the region. Organisations namely IIE, NERCORMP, IIFT Kolkata participated in the meet and the participating entrepreneurs expressed their keen interest in expanding their work in the region with the help of NEC and GoI, which they said has immense scope for Start-ups.
On behalf of the NEC, it was reiterated that focus will be given on providing all possible support and facilities to give further push to the Start-up ecosystem in the region and government has been trying to address the challenges confronting the Start-ups. NEC PR
