Chandigarh, Nov 14: The 5thedition of the North East Youth Fest Chandigarh 2019, which was an educational and socio-cultural extravaganza with a mammoth gathering of about 1800 Northeast youths from all the eight NE states concluded here on Wednesday last with a colourful late evening function.
The participants presented dances and songs and a traditional cultural costume show, all depicting the rich cultural heritage of the region with one representative from each state showcasing the respective state in a brief AV presentation. Speaking at the interactive session, sister of Chief Minister of Haryana and brand ambassador of “Betti Pattao, Betti Bachao” for Punjab and Haryana, Vina Arora expressed happiness to be a part of the Fest and for interacting with large number of youths from NE.  Don Bosco Navjeevan, Chandigarh, Director and Organizing Secretary of NEYF, Fr. Reji Tom expressed happiness in working with the NE youths at the venue. Shilpa Das extended invitation to all NEYF participants to join hands with her three-year old initiative of Chandigarh Urban Festival which builds bridges between people living in Chandigarh. Basanta Raj Kumar, IFS hailing from Manipur advised the youths to be proud of their culture and uniqueness and work for their preservation. 
Earlier, Fr. Cyriac, Director, Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar who is also the Organizing Chairman of NEYF congratulated the youth leaders for putting tremendous efforts to make the event successful, besides  thanking the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for his encouragement and support. He also conveyed the best wishes of Arunachal Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mama Natung and former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki who couldn’t attend the Fest due to urgent and unexpected engagements. Bharti Yumnanm from Manipur expressed gratitude to all the VIPs gracing the Fest, resource persons, organizers and all who participated in the event.  Chief Guest Manoj Parida, IAS who is the Adviser to Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh congratulated the organizers and the participants for conceptualizing and executing the innovative Fest which centered around the theme, “Peaceful India, Prosperous India” and recalled his memories as a civil servant in Arunachal.  Ten motivational speakers took sessions on themes such as peace, national integration, personal responsibility, life in metros and social media responsibility. A panel discussion on the Fest theme was also arranged.   
It will be worth mentioning that NEYF is an annual event to showcase and promote NE talents and for giving them opportunities to integrate with the national mainstream. NEYF PR
