PASIGHAT, Dec 14: The three-day ‘Discover North East Cultural Yatra 2019’ programme concluded on Friday last where folk artistes from various states of the country showcased their performing arts at Kiyit, Bilat, Mebo and Pasighat which enthralled the audience.
The event was organized by the Department of Art & Culture, GoAP and East Siang DA in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), with the objective of promoting the folk and performing art forms particularly among the younger generation. DC, Dr. Kinny Singh speaking as Chief Guest at IGJ GHSS Auditorium said that the initiative will help in cultural interaction and creating awareness among younger generation in particular and people in general about the vibrant cultural heritage and art forms of the country. Myriad folk dances such as Kalbeliya & Ghoomar from Rajasthan, the famous Litho Shele Pheta from Nagaland, Sambal Puri from Odisha, Kushan from Assam and Yoyo Gaga, Engo Didum Telo, Nero Aming & Pasi Kongki from Arunachal were performed during the three-day Yatra which began on December 11 and held mainly in rural areas witnessed by huge gatherings. ADC Hage Lailiang, CO Namsing Khoda Lhasa, CO Bilat Oni Padun attended the events at various venues. District Art & Culture Officer, East Siang Augusti Jamoh thanked all for the huge response.
Deputy Director, NEZCC, M. Senti Ao said that the centre aims to develop and promote the rich cultural diversities, cultural linkages and encourage folk & tribal arts particularly among the youths. DIPRO
