Itanagar, Nov 2: Minister, SYA, WRD etc. Mama Natung today chaired a coordination meeting of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs at Chimpu and reviewed its current activities, status of various projects and related issues.
Thanking the Central government on behalf of the state’s people for setting up the National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) at SLSA campus, Natung asked the Director Sports to expedite the workout for a permanent site and exhorted the District Sports Officers (DSOs) to sustain the work culture and sportsmanship spirit. Detailed PowerPoint presentations on the department’s activities were presented by the Director Youth Affairs, Ramesh Linggi, Deputy Director Sports, Mala Linggi and Principal Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) Komen Zirdo.       
DSO (Hq) Nada Appa briefed on the modified rules of the Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy and Assistant Director, Sports-cum-Mission Director, Khelo India Karbia Dodum and AE (Engineering Wing under Sports Dept.) Kabak Makhya briefed on the physical progress of various ongoing projects under centrally sponsored schemes and state plans respectively. Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs In-Charge NT Glow also spoke on the occasion.
DSO Aalo Tumto Loyi apprised the Minister about the shortage of Sports Officers and highlighted the need for creating more posts as many coaches are overburdened with the additional workload of DSOs.
